ENglish Stick Fighting by Christophe Clugston

Man people are unaware of the long history of fighting and the war arts in the Occidental World. There is simply too much propaganda about the Oriental schools and their methods. The reality is that European soil saw more duels than Musashi ever dreamed of and there were many people with far more duels than Musashi.

Occidental Arts are based on performance/outcome--this equates to no time for tradition bound up slow to evolve arts and the mind sets behind those arts. There is a reason that the Western World went on to conquer the Modern World and this mind set is prevalent in the fighting arts, too.

One of the weapons that was considered to be very dangerous (and capable of being a swordsman if adroitly handled) was the Quarter staff (well this is the name in English so I will use it right now since I am not writing in German, Spanish or French for the bulk of this Blog).

Here is a video about basic use of the English Stick.

Muay Thai Gyms in Bangkok by Christophe Clugston

Well on a quest to find some new gyms in Thailand, I decided to spend some time in Bangkok (since I hub through the city a lot). This gym I am standing at is very close to Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. The trainer I had is an ex Cahmpion and very subtle on his technique advice (in Thai nor English). He did rounds of 3 minutes instead of the normal 5 mintues (since 3 mintues is the real time--the tempo ca be pushed far beyond what you can do in 5 minutes). Very hard training.

This was just oen of my stops. If you have questions about training, I can set up deals for you.

THe best training I have found in Thailand will be up and coming. So until then.

Train and keep pushing.

Why even in MMA most all Muay Thai is false by Christophe Clugston

Man, it seems like Muay Thai has become a fad again. Not for the sport of Muay Thai--which few people actually pursue, but for the training aspect that it gives. It seems that the MMA crowd has found Muay Thai to be the strongest form of striking practice for their cross over training to the Mixed Martial Arts; sport in ring or in cage.

There are many people that say they teach Muay Thai--and they don't have a clue. Subsequently, anyone that thinks he or she is going to Muay Thai classes is going to some perverted form of Kick Boxing practice and not Muay Thai.

Please see my article covering this. http://ezinearticles.com/?Why-Even-in-MMA-Most-Muay-Thai-is-Not-Real&id=3293393

Once you ahve read that you will be better armed to knwo the truth and find REal Muay Thai training--especially those of you who do MMA.

Here is something that will give you some insight into both the fighting form and the language. You will learn something. Heavy Muay Thai Training 8 and 9 by Christophe Clugston

OK, well I've been doing some other stuff as of late--like what?

Well like training for this damn TV fight in Thailand. Yeah, I got the normal advance notice/ All two weeks of it (this is more than usual, actually).

We don't get to follow those big planned out General Prep Training and all of that added stuff. Forget about trying to advance absolute strength or increase run times--that just takes away from the performance on the actual event with this time left. So check out what I have to say.

Stick around as the news is going to heat up as I get more pissed off about this.

Underground Japan Fight Club by Christophe Clugston

Ok here we go. Hang on. My friend Robert (of Fight Japan fame) has shot a lot of footage of fighters and talked to some of the famous and some of the not so famous. He does a good job of capturinmg the part of the fight that can give you another moment of perspective.

He and I have talked about many things and have tossed around a million ideas (I am just that damn complicated). Anyway, I want to share some of his work with you. I think you will groove on this. This is about the Underground Fight Scene in Japan (which pays more than the PROFESSIONAL fight scene in Thailand, I might add).

This is about Hide (that is not said as if you were a monolingual English speaker--it is said in clear vowels of equal length). His story is a story of a man who finds himself in the fray. There might not be much in his life--he's a loser in Japan--but he has the fray. Just like the Norse Gods knew they would die in Ragnarok, he goes forward. Why? Well, instead of leaving it open to you to figure out--I will tell you. Maybe you will get it, maybe you will never get it.

He goes forward because THERE is a fight. A purpose. A now. An epic tale he writes at this moment.

Watch. (Feel free to give Robert feedback on his program and make sure you tell him I sent you.)

Hardcore Bareknuckle Fights Japan vs Thailand by Christophe Clugston

Well, it's time to see how the Karate hardcore, Samurai spirited Japanese fighters do against the battle worn Muay Thai fighters from Thailand.

There are lots of facts and rules and laws of the fight to learn from. This is one of the many videos done by a friend of mine. He is really working night and day to get the final edits done on his episodes. He can be found under Fight Japan. If you take a look at his videos and watch them--make sure you mention you got there from me.

Muay Thai, Challenges, Bangkok Dangerous Christophe Clugston Style

Wow, I was just in Bangkok (now back up north)--I was able to fire off a little bit about what's been going on.

I'm about to challenge someone---get ready for this coward to run like the place is on fire.

I also give a little bit of the vibe of Bangkok life.

Spent some days hanging with Fight Japan in the Patapong district. Tried to get a few things set up.

So check it. Life will never be the same.

Secret of Spainish Blades, Swords by Christophe Clugston

Wow, it's been one hot topic over the past few years. In fact, I first thought that the interest in this topic would be huge.

Then after starting to explain the topic to some poeple I got the feeling that it was far too arcane. At the time, Alex was very certain that the information was beyond the interest of the majorityh of people.

I had done a few semianrs about the Spanish Circle School. I had also done personal training covering the blade work. It was impressive with everyone and it really had an impact. But, I felt that it was the type of person that was doing it. It was certainly a very specific niche of fighting.

Man, was I wrong. The general interest in the Spanish Blade Work is overwhelming. It's been hidden for so long--that poeple are ready to be exposed to the best swordsmen in history.

I will be putting out more on this topic.

Here's a group in Spain that are bringing back part of the Blades.

The Next Big Thing in Fighting by Christophe Clugston

Ohh, I've been working on this for some time. I've been extremelyu busy with some adventures and personal research. But, as they say in the world of research, it's time to tlak a little about what is going to be available.

I've taken the next swtep to the most advanced fighting and self defense technology on the planet. Yeah, that's right---CXS has a new dimensional level to its overall design.

Now, those of you who only read about CXS have to keep in mind that there is no film of it, there are no DVs about it---it is very limited to a small group of people that I know personally.

I will not let this get out of the immeadaite control that I have over such personal contact.

YOu must understand VDA to attempt CXS---the reasons are apparewnt to those that are in CXS Bewta. (This is my personal group of guys who have been handed the keys to the jet power of the Raptor--to use a strange anaology).

Well, the new level is CXS-M. This is a fine tuned delivery of what works. It is also taking the skills that you have in CXS and putting them into a newer and higher level of performance. This is about being able to really clear the area.

This i no HYPE.

I want to let out to those that have the interest and who are READY for this level of skill and power that this will be available to those who are qualified.

I am about to make it possible for privatge training to gain this.

I will also be considering Semianrs to the already CXS trained.

Sorry, qualification is necessary.

Believe me, I will shock and amaze you , yet again.

THere's a reason why people consider me the Mozxart of Self Defense and street fighting technologies.

And this is a fine example.

Wild Death in Cambodia by Christophe Clugston

Hey, I've been away fromj this for some time and let me tell you that I've seen more reality up close and personal than most of you outside of active war duty will ever see.

People dragged through the streets under the smashing tires of a car. Motor cycles crushed into little balls of metal while the drivers are hurled 40 meters through the air. Guns brought out in the 3am darkness of a former Khmer Rouge hold out.

Let me tell you, it's a damn violent world. And it's not just here--it's here that the reality is shown to you. Collapse the banking, take aqway the homes, run short on gasoline, run out of food and your neighbors are going to be doing the same to you.

The way to stop it?

Prepare at a personal level.

Dirty Thailand Street Fights by Chritstophe Clugston

Man, wilder than elephants walking down the street. Wilder than rickshaws on the high way. Wildr than 4 people on a motorcycle all using cell phones.

yeah, well that was the street fight that I saw last night.

This one was a doozy (as they used to say).

man, there was a lot to learn from it.

And guess what?

I reveal all of the ends and outs of it...but only to the Inner Core.

If you're not part of that elite gorup--you can be. So join now to get the inside scoop on the Dirty Thailand Street Fights after Midnight.

The Birth of Muay Thai

Muay Thai is a really recognized name and art at this point in time. The branding of the name has been going on for the last 20 something years in the West.

And it is known.

What is not known is that Muay Thai is dervied from the more ancient Khmer Empire. This whole region has fighting arts--in fact, the Burmese kicked the hell out of the Thais in several wars back in the day (as they say).

Anyway, the state of Pradal Serey (also known as Kun Khmer) is in a building state. The Pol Pot regime kiloeled all fighters and trainers. The art was pretty much decimaed during the 30 years of war in Casmbodia.

Now, there is a re-birth of the art. The style and rules are almost the exact same as Muay Thai. One thing is for certain, however, that at the highest level there are no Khmers now that can fight with the best of the best Thais. There is a lot of discrimination and racism in the Orient (more than anywhere I have been) and the fights just don't happen.

Anyway, here is a little promo of fights that will be going on between Westerners and the best Khmers (these are not the best foreigners--see how that works?)

Ring or Cage Muay Thai for MMA

Mixed Martial Arts requires the blending of several important factors. These factors can be thought of in two large categories:
1) Striking and 2) Grappling.

Within these two large categories there are several other sub categories; however, the larger and more global aspects must be considered first and last.

That is to say that at the end of the day your striking is going to be more effective if it is a global style rather than some small part of striking (e.g., small crane beak technique is not going to work well for you in comparison to Muay Thai).

Now, how to fight effectively and increase your fighting skills requires using the most global striking art. This happens to be (in the Sport sense) Muay Thai.

Yes, Burmese Boxing also uses the head butt, but, that is now illegal in MMA and is not of consequence in the sport striking. That leaves us looking at using the striking style of Muay Thai as it is the most complete art that translates to the cage or the ring of the MMA world.

The important fact
is to use Muay Thai and not kick boxing. The differences are great and very significant. Muay Thai fighters are quite adept at standing (greco) grappling and are actually better than pure greco wrestlers because they also throw strikes while upper body grappling (this is legal in MMA so this means it should be part of the striking training).

A lot of people like to claim that they are Muay Thai fighters or train Muay Thai; however, this is patently not true. There are few real Muay Thai training camps in the World (most are in Thailand) and I can say that the percentage of those gyms around the world that say they train Muay Thai are in fact not training Muay Thai.

It takes a true professional with real world and real ring experience to teach you Muay Thai. What most people try to pass off as Muay Thai is a derived kick boxing style. And kick boxing is not as complete as Muay Thai for MMA.

In Muay Thai you most worry about kicks, punches, knees and elbows, clinch throws, and clinch striking. These are all aspects that are part of MMA.

Kick boxing and boxing are lacking too many aspects to give you a global striking domination in MMA. Here's just one great example from boxing: While you might be great at bobbing and weaving this can easily be defeated with clinch fighting using elbows and knees. Unless you want to be a victim of a brutal knee or elbow knock out you have to get real Muay Thai training incorporated into your MMA training.

Believe me that many are lacking in MMA striking training abilities, and you can exploit this if you do one thing: find your way to getting some real Muay Thai training.

You must find a professional who has "said and done it before". Ths is the only way he is going to be qualified to guide you to new heights in your MMA fighting skills. I wish you luck in getting Muay Thai skills for MMA and injecting a new level to your game.

What about a Dose of Pain

So, you wake up and you think this day is going to be the same as yesterday. Well that's how most people in the world live.

But, when you get attacked
or you have a personal friend who suffers from extreme trauma--violence--then your day is not like yesterday.

No, it's something new.

When this happens people change. They often see this as a defining moment.

But what if you could define yourself before this happened?

What if you could take charge of your life and define yourself from a self directed change?

What is the power of that over being defined because you are a victim of a time in space?

Well, I want you to know that I work hard on this. I have been in many places and have suffered many defining moments.

Wow, this is not a BLOG this is NOVEL worthy.

Well, that's the sort of value you get with following Christophe Clugston and the evolution that is contained in the fighting technologies.

If you aren't advancing, then what are you doing?

isn't that the real dose of PAIN?

Until next time,

Bangkok Dangerous

I don't know how many of you have seen Bangkok Dangerous: the movie remake by Cage of a sort of cult film made in Thailand.

I can tell you that lots of the scenes and life are not remotely close to the sort of thing that you find living in Bangkok.

Most people have a sort of strange idea about Thailand: they just talk from a urban legend sort of mentality. They talk about slave sex, eating dog on a stick--basically, they haven't a clue about what Thailand is like.

That seems to be found in the self defense world also. Hell, many people all over the web have made comments about what Combat JKD and Comhrac Bas are about. Funny, since none of those people have done personal training with me. These would be pundits have not even had the guts to go to a seminar. Hell, they don't even have the spine to get a DVD. They talk from what someone else said and from their prejudices.

You know that's the most DANGEROUS thing in this field: the EXPERTS because they think they are.

Well, I've got one test for these Experts and that is to take my teaching challenge and show that they can beat me.

Come to Bangkok and we can really see who is Bangkok Dangerous.

Funny, they will beg off from this to return to eating a pizza and living in their heads, won't they?

Talk to you soon

The Headless Self Defense Chicken

Hey, I've been running around like the proverbial chicken without a head. So many things to get done and too many obstacles in the way.

That's how a lot of people feel when they approach Self Defense--they just don't have the time to do it justice. Well, what if I told you that it doesn't take the 5 times a week and years of attending the dojo (training hall or training gym) to be a dangerous person? I should know, I have trained hundreds of people that are not to be messed with (to use that phrase or the not to be trifeled with).

I'm running around in the Bangkok heat and I got lots of things still to do--I just wanted you to know that I was thinking about your skill.

I'll be back soon.

Long Time Coming

Well, it's only been since 1995 that World Wide Acclaim came for COMBAT JKD. The tape series that changed the entire Self Defense world. It changed thoughts and it changed an industry.

Until that time there was no one dealing with the subject of Self Defense. Oh sure, they used the name but they were only used watered down sport fighting or some hopelessly out dated traditional approach. Even if they said they were doing something new--they hadn't used any isomorphic proofs and they hadn't evolved.

Well, Christophe Clugston (or as the USA press liked to call him Chris Clugston, everyone seems to have problems with a long name they don't know) changed all of that. He angered many in the process, but it didn't really matter.

And now you can see where this evolution has gone--afterall, that was 14 years ago. Take a look at http://www.clugston-fightingmoves.com
